Vitamin C At what time of the day to use it?

One of the most frequently asked questions about the use of Vitamin C is, when should I use it?

The answer is not so simple; it will depend on several factors.

If the purpose of applying Vitamin C is to even out your skin tone or to use it as an adjuvant in your spot treatment or as a mild depigmenting agent, it should ideally be applied at night, when your skin is more receptive.

On the other hand, if we use it for its antioxidant function, we want to prevent sun damage and pollution, then the ideal is to use it in the mornings to help us with all the oxidative stress to which our skin will be exposed during the day.

We already know the basics, but there are other factors that influence…

If I am going to be exposed to a lot of sun, should I put it on?

Preferably not, since Vit C is unstable to solar radiation and even if sunscreen is applied on top, it will lose its effectiveness. If you are going to take a vacation at the beach, in that case it is better to apply it in the evenings.

If I use AHAs or Retinol can I use it?

Yes, but it will probably be necessary to adjust the doses and keep the application of Vit C only in the mornings.

Before or after moisturizer?

The presentations we like best come in serums or ampoules. If you use this presentation, the right moment is to apply it on clean skin before your moisturizer and of course do not forget to apply your sunscreen afterwards.

Although you now have a little more information on how to use your wonderful vitamin C serum, remember that it is always important to consult your doctor.
